The creators hope to provide a fun and interactive way for people to connect in the age of quarantines and social distancing.

DECEMBER 1, 2020 – New York-based game company Bad Christmas Movie Bingo™ has officially released the 2020 edition of their holiday board game, designed to be played while watching the kinds of made-for-TV Christmas movies that one finds on Hallmark, Lifetime, and Netflix.

A small business run out of New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood, Bad Christmas Movie Bingo™ was started by a husband-and-wife team who saw the need for an interactive and funny companion to pair with the schmaltzy, repetitive, and sometimes eye-rollingly-bad TV holiday movies that are released every year.

Just like regular Bingo, each square on the 15 unique game boards represents an event, character trait, or plot point typically used in a made-for-TV Christmas movie. After familiarizing themselves with their boards, players simply turn on a movie, mark off their squares as the story unfolds, and get five in a row to win. With squares like “Woman With Great Career Is Sad Inside,” “Oh Look… A Small Town,” and “Ending = Moves Back Home,” the creators hope that people will have fun spotting the tropes, and gently (or in some cases, not-so-gently) poking fun at the stereotypes that these movies typically include.

After initially offering just a digital download, this year the creators decided to make a full production version of Bad Christmas Movie Bingo™ that includes 15 unique and reusable bingo boards, a set of 4 dry-erase markers in a velvet pouch, and instructions for play. In addition, they are selling a Limited-Edition 2020 Commemorative Gift Tin version — a collector’s set featuring original cover art, a matching tree ornament, and everything else included in the regular version of the game. Also on sale separately are the Digital Download version, and the 2020 Commemorative Tree Ornament.

All products are available for purchase online at https://www.badchristmasmoviebingo.com/shop.

Bad Christmas Movie Bingo™ can also be found on social media channels, where they review new made-for-TV Christmas movies for their “bingo-worthiness.” Those looking for the best movies to pair with the game can find a list of recommendations from the creators on their website.
